Tribute to our Beautiful Mare, Haidas
This last year has brought a lot with it. Over last winter our beautiful mare was becoming very ill and would not eat and we came to find out that she tore her ACL and was suffering from chronic pain so much that she was slowly starving. With our vets advice we had to put her down. She was a big loss to us and her filly. We will Miss Haidas Smart Chick and the sweetheart that she was.
When we arrived we expected our horses to bolt and enjoy the pasture but they cautiously set out to explore their new home.
It is always good to bathe your horse to get all the grime off of them. Their coat will be healthier, shinier and they will be more comfortable. It is a good way to keep unwanted pests away from dandruff build up or bad hygiene. Plus it is fun family activity when your doing it as a teaching tool for children on how to take care of animals.
I love this time of year where the weather is nice and the horses have shed their winter coats looking sleek and shiny.
A good horse, a little girl, her daddy and a basket to collect things in. What more could you ask for!
Love my life and the people and animals in it.
We are going to be moving here in just over a month and will be driving for many hours to get to the great state of Idaho. We checked with a veterinarian and he said that we will need to stop about every hour to combine mamma and filly so she can nurse. It is going to be a LONG trip. So we are trying to prepare our horses for the long haul.
We started with loading mamma in the front section of the trailer. She did not like this at all being separated from her baby and for good reason.
Our little girl loves to lead our mamma horse around and what is really neat is that our horse will respond really well to her. The other day she put her nose right down into our girls arms and let her hold her and pet her. I love Horses!
First off our Filly has a name and her name is Arcadia. She is our first official baby for our lifestyle and business we are wanting to create and we thought it fit. Her registered name will be a little longer depending on what AQHA decides on, but we are happy with calling her Arcadia.
