Journal Entry #3
#1 How time fly's when your having fun and there is work to do
It takes TIME to do everything so by the time we have done chores, bathed, gotten ready for the day it is already past noon.....We are getting faster and better at what we are doing but it is a work in progress that will take trial and error to make better.
#2 How we all, including the kids, sleep so well
I was worried that we would all freeze and the kiddos would get scared but it hasn't been too bad. First off it is summer but summer in the mountains can get a bit chilly at times with temperatures dropping about 40-50 degrees at night. When I know it will be a bit cooler I will make sure the kids have sweatshirts and socks on when they go to bed and that they are tucked into their sleeping bags and numerous blankets. My baby wears a onesie, pj's and a outfit with a hoodie that goes over the whole thing. I swaddle him up in his blanket then tuck him in with a warm blanket and a blanket over the top to keep the dewy air off. He sleeps really well anyway and is such a good baby. How did I get so lucky. :)
We all have our own beds (real beds) not camping mats so that has helped to make us more comfortable. Some nights I am up multiple times with the kids feeding the baby, growing pains, getting scared or cold because they are out of their sleeping bags. That is just how it is having a family but the rewards have surpassed any of the discomforts.
We have four tents set up. I have a Main Tent that is our living room, dining and kitchen with an outdoor kitchen where i have a area for briquettes and our fire pit and a place to do dishes. The Wardrobe Tent has all of our clothes, shoes and socks so it is easier to put things away and keep things clean. Then there is Our sleeping tent. It has two rooms plus a patio porch. So in one room is where the youngest ones sleep and we sleep in the other room. My boys tent is where the oldest boys sleep and they have a play room for days that are nice to relax and play with their imagine-x toys and legos. We are renting a porta potty for the duration of our stay. It is not too bad and they will come and clean it out anytime you think it is getting too bad.
I can't wait to share all of our pictures and the things we have done to make this experience the one that it is and share the things that we are learning. Until then, Enjoy your summer with who ever you care about and make it as memorable as you can.
